Cross-sector lessons for successfully scaling production in complex supply chains.

ADS has unique requirements and challenges, but this shouldn’t preclude transferrable lessons and approaches from other sectors informing the production ramps necessary to meet global security requirements.

Case study:

Designing and implementing an NPI process with supporting tools and infrastructure to support volume ramp-up for a defence manufacturer.

Shane Mason on how automotive sector practices should be considered as a means to help reduce costs for the MOD equipment plan.

Quantifying engineering efficiency is hard… but not impossible.

The industry needs more skilled engineers, and to better retain those it has. But to bridge the immediate gap, smarter deployment of existing resource is a must.

Case study:

Unblocking document release within a new PLM system following new Problem Report, Change Request, and Change Notice processes.

How established OEMs can reinvent their NPD practices from within, accelerating design to line cycles at a time of ever increasing complexity.

Data underpins everything, but becoming data-driven remains a challenge.

Top-down transformation is out, better use of existing data to drive decision-making in. However, this only works at a program-level if each bottleneck is systematically eliminated, requiring a strong PMO push coupled with hands-on implementors.

Defining scope, develop and roll-out issue management tools and processes for a time-critical software project.
